Long ago in Ireland, following the oral tradition of the Celts, the storyteller would record all the great events. These stories provided great entertainment for the people of Ireland.

Bairbre McCarthy continues this tradition. Featuring stories of ancient kings, heroes and fairy folk, the mythological legends she tells blend with the history of Ireland. She teaches and performs for audiences of all ages and will design a program to suit requests.

The Irish Times describes Bairbre McCarthy as “a master story - weaver who offers all the details and vivid imagery of fine storytelling.” A native of County Clare, on Ireland’s west coast, Bairbre now lives in Saratoga Springs, New York. Her summer residence programs and creative writing workshops culminate in student performance of stories.

Bairbre is frequently joined by multi-instrumentalist Frank Orsini, whose skill on fiddle, guitar and harp, enhance Bairbre's storytelling and adds tandem- storytelling, singing and dancing to the program.

Bairbre is the author of several books and CDs, in English and in the Irish language (Gaelic). Her latest book, The Keeper of the Crock of Gold, original leprechaun stories, (Mercier Press, Ireland, 2007), was chosen as children’s book of the month by Borders, Ireland.

"This highly original new take on leprechaun lore will intrigue children of all ages and delight with its outstanding artwork." Primary Times, (Parent/Teacher Magazine, Britain and Ireland)

Audiences: Pre K, K-12, Family, Adults.
