Storyteller Kate Danaher
Imagine a time when all of Ireland sat by the turf fire on a Sunday night, listening to Eamon
Kelly, Ireland’s master storyteller, live on Radio Eireann. A storyteller in her own right for over
twenty years, Kate recreates this delightful experience for you. With songs and stories, and
fiddle tunes learned at the kitchen table of that other Irish master, Sligo fiddler John Vesey, Kate
takes you to Ireland once again or for the first time. With tales of the old times to make you
laugh, you’ll feel like you are home.
Kate has performed at the Philly Folk Festival, the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and at
numerous other storytelling and Irish festivals from New York to Chicago and beyond. She has
opened for The Chieftains, Tommy Sands and Aiofe Clancy. After telling stories on Irish radio,
she was invited by Ireland’s Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Gaeltacht to perform in Ireland.
Some of her stories for children are featured on the national-award-winning CD, Just Kiddin’,
recorded with her duo, Danaher and Cloud.
