Born into a family of musicians, artists, writers, and actors By Night,
but who were teachers, journalists, CPAs, and psychologists by day,
Claire Beetlestone
follows right in their footsteps.
The mother of five, she has been a docent to a tropical zoo, a dancer, and an art impresario. Dr. Beetlestone is a practicing specialist physician and calls Cooperstown, NY or Argyllshire, Scotland "home" when she is there.
Dr. Beetlestone has traveled from America through Europe, Africa, and Asia -- hiking, bicycling, motoring, and scuba diving. Along the way she has listened to many people, from kings to ditch diggers, sometimes speaking no common language with no available translator. In such situations she has found the crayon and paper a most powerful communication tool. Dr. Beetlestone has been collecting stories and legends, specializing in international folktales, making sure to leave a few of her own behind wherever she goes.
Dr. Beetlestone will share a few of her favorite "Turning Point" stories, if the audience promises to pass on at least one of them .
For stories are meant to be shared. If not, they evaporate and will never be enjoyed again.

Canadian stories reflect the wonderful diversity of Canada itself--from the stories of the First Peoples who have lived in Canada for thousands of years to the stories of the people from around the world who chose to make Canada their home. Over the years, their stories are remembered, retold, and reshaped to fit new lives in a vast, sometimes challenging new land. Adding spice to the mix are the wonderful old French-Canadian stories, a parallel story-telling tradition.
Margaret French invites you to come and enjoy a few stories from the land where she was born and which she remembers with much love.
