The Abrahamic family has crystallized mainly into three religious communities -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In the past two years we celebrated the confluence of our holy days with stories from our faith traditions and stories of compassion and collaboration. This year, as the lunar calendar shifts our holy days apart, let us come together through stories of our personal or traditional spiritual journeys, be they across miles or years.
All storytellers and listeners are welcome!
Stories should be under 10 minutes and should be personal in nature.
This circle will be facilitated by
Dr. Mussarat Chaudhry, Nancy Marie Payne and Audrey Seidman.

Parking is available in the

Theme: An Evening of Sufi Tales
Facilitator: Nur Habib Tiven
Chapel House, University at Albany Campus
An evening of storytelling from the Sufi tradition. The Sufi tradition is rich with stories and poetry which illuminate the path and bring guidance to the heart. Sufism is not an exclusive path for a few select mystics, but rather represents timeless wisdom for all humanity. Sufi stories illuminate the inner life of the soul, the unity of world religions, and the great work of becoming a "true human being" and living from the heart.
Nur Habib Tiven, our facilitator for the evening, is a senior dervish and guide in the Nur Ashki Jerrahi Sufi Order.
Join us with a story or come, sit back and listen. It promises to be a very special evening!!
Wednesday, June 10, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Theme: The Unspoken Story -- Evoking the Divine through Music, Movement, and Mantra
Facilitators: Virginia Miller and Frank Lombardo
Hubbard Interfaith Sanctuary, 949 Madison Avenue, Albany, NY
An evening of The Dances of Universal Peace to inspire stories honoring the richness and diversity of our traditions, discovering that which we hold in common, connecting with each other in mind and heart ... sharing the "Light"
In the timeless tradition of sacred dance, The Dances of Universal Peace use voice, sound and movement to explore the universal messages found in the world's spiritual traditions. Often referred to as moving meditations or body prayers, the Dances use chant, music, and dance as a vehicle for exploring sacred themes. The Dances, accompanied by live music, are taught and then experienced in the moment by all in attendance. Participation, not performance, is the focus; feeling, intent and spirit being more important to the experience than form, technique, and skill.
Virginia Miller and Frank Lombardo are Certified Teachers of the Dances of Universal Peace, as granted by the
International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace.
The dances will explore the themes of peace, love, harmony and unity. There will be three dances, followed by time for sharing stories inspired by the Dances or the themes. We will close the evening with a final Dance.
This promises to be a wonderfully creative, spiritual circle..hope many of you will come bring your stories....
Come join the Dance!!
