About Story Circle
In 1983,
Story Circle was created as a guild with meetings for members to practice works in progress.
In 1996, Story Circle produced its first public performance --
Tellabration.
Encouraged by three years of large audiences attending Tellabration,
Story Circle added
Story Sunday at the Glen Sanders Mansion shows to its public performance schedule in 1999.
These performances continue drawing audiences to this day.
In 2005,
Open Mics were started in Saratoga Springs as well as Schenectady, giving storytellers new venues in which to hone their stories and skills.
Story Circle celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2008 and is starting an exciting new partnership with Proctors. Following the example of the
Crick Crack Club at the
Barbican Centre, London,
and the
Ottawa Storytellers at the
National Arts Centre, Ottawa,
Story Circle at Proctors is
the third resident storytelling company at a performing arts center in the world.
Story Circle is one of the first resident storytelling companies
at a US performing arts center
